2006
At
final count 2006's 10th Beantown had 10 countries
(Australia, Canada, Denmark, England, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Norway,
Sweden and USA) represented and 26 states
(AZ,
CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IA, IL, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MT, NC, NH, NJ, NY,
OH, PA, RI, TX, VA, VT and WI)! You can check the Beantown
2006 Results page for the results of the Northeast Lindy Hop Championships.
We would like to send out a big thank you to everyone who participated in
our 10th Beantown Camp! It was a fabulous time, starting with the
largest ever weekend Mini-Camp and followed by another fantastic
week. This year we were joined by dancers from 10 countries and 26 states.
We were very pleased to be back on the Endicott College campus. The beautiful
setting on the shore, helpful staff and outstanding food service is hard
to beat! Everything was phenomenal, from the classes to the social dancing,
Broadway
Night, competitions and performances. Both Frankie and Norma seemed
at their best this year and, as always, it was a joy to have them with
us. Plus
it was
great to see all the activity buzzing in Beantown Café, from Beantown
Idol, Tropical Night, the pool tournament, World Cup Soccer on
the huge screen and
late-night games. It was just so great to see everyone enjoying themselves
and having fun!
The camp staff was outstanding, both on the weekend and the week. The synergy
creates such a great opportunity for learning and really makes the experience
a special one. It kind of all culminates by the end of the week with such
positive feelings and support from everyone during the class and track performances,
always a goosebump moment!
A special thank you needs to go out to our local crew who help us to keep
things running smoothly while at camp. We really couldn't do it without
them. Thank
you Meredith, Rachelle, June, Suzanne, Denyce, Joe, Martin, Mike and
also Dave for keeping us laughing and helping with our demons! Also,
thank you to all
the locals who helped out with rides and rooms for our visiting dancers.
Plus thank you to Jamie, our right-hand man. He was literally with
us from loading
the truck at the start to unloading at the end. We weren't kidding
when we said it was going to be a lot of work!
Most of all, thank you to the campers from near and far who have helped
us to do this for the last 10 years! Somehow every year camp just
gets better.
The spirit and positive energy that permeates camp makes it worthwhile.
All the happy, smiley faces are what it is all about!
We hope to put together a photo album for 2006 before too long. Please
send your photos and comments. Thanks!
Happy dancing,
Aurelie & Tony (July 18, 2006)
